What would you do if in the course of your work as a janitor at a funeral home you were confronted by a naked male corpse? All alone at 2.00am and a quick glance before lights out reveals that the corpse may have just moved his right leg? Summer McAfee elects to take all her courage in hand and find out if the dead can walk! Her reward is to be kidnapped by said ‘corpse’ in all his naked splendour! If you love zappy, spicy dialogue you’ll be vastly entertained by the rallying between Summer and Steve who vie avidly in a conversational one-upmanship that will have you laughing out loud and thoroughly amused throughout this fast paced tale. Add to the above the zany antics of Summer’s Muffy, a Pekinese Grand Champion Show dog belonging to her mother, who will coax a smile out of you as she comes to the rescue in some very unorthodox and diverting ways. Muffy doesn’t like men so naturally her relationship with Steve is a rocky one. Steve’s relationship with Summer is not all that amiable either. He hasn’t a chivalrous bone in his body but he is all man, a down to earth, surly and battered hunk!
To further complicate matters for Steve he is pursued by the ghost of a former lover (Dee Dee) just as he’s beginning to notice how enticingly Summer is put together. They’ve temporarily given the bad guys the slip by heading out of town into the mountains. Summer is definitely a city girl and roughing it in natures wonderland is one more shock to her overloaded system. Steve is relentless and unsympathetic as she trudges along after him. Nonetheless, their forced march through the wilderness does bring them closer together as they share some of the details of their respective pasts. Passion, when it hits, has them sizzling with need for each other. Unfortunately it is at those precise moments of sensual intimacy that Dee Dee elects to make an appearance with only Steve and Muffy as witnesses. Summer can’t see her at all!! Nothing will turn a man cold faster than a spectre from his past and some hilarious ribbing from Summer tests his patience to the limit as he questions his sanity in this bizarre situation. This story has everything for a delightfully pleasurable afternoon’s read. Curl up with a box of chilled chocolates, a cool drink and indulge yourself with love and laughter in a romance that will charm your socks off!
