This is probably the first series to feed our craving for all types of shape shifters. It’s not just the ubiquitous werewolves with the Sazi but you also have snakes, dragons, spiders (yuck, but fascinating) - basically anything you can thing of and they’re part of the Sazi nation. Cara Salinas has just been made sheriff, but she’s no stranger to authority having been alpha of her werewolf pack since the start of her teens. However along with a baffling new case, an interloper has just come into her town. Adam Calinas nearly destroyed his race by allowing himself to be seen by humans, and now he has been exiled to join a new pack in Texas, though with one glimpse at the female Alpha every instinct in his body screams mine. Adam has the power to upset all Cara holds dear and although he has no intention of ruling this new pack, sometimes things never turn out the way you’d wish. These potential enemies are forced to band together to hold off a deadly attack by an unknown predator. When one of these attacks leaves Adam fighting for his life Cara is forced to reveal a secret that threatens her very sanity, not realising that Adam is the one person who might be able to destroy the curse that has chained her throughout her life.
Each entry in this series draws us deeper into the complex jungle of the Sazi and we keep getting tantalizing glimpses of peripheral characters that we’re salivating to see headlining their own stories. |
