Geeky, nerdy, brilliant (PhD by the age of 19!) loner Simon Brant invents stuff like cutting-edge computer technology. His idea of a fun day is conducting experiments in his lab, and working out with his private collection of katanas (rare swords). Think Kevin Costner in The Bodyguard, only a little more distracted. Raw divorcée Amanda arrives, still shocky and feeling pathetically inadequate after divorcing her adulterous lawyer husband. Her object is to convince Simon and his cousin Eric to merge Brant computers with her company. Eric is convinced, Simon isn’t. And convincing Simon is like trying to capture smoke – every time she tries to present her merger notes he gets hit with a brilliant idea and vanishes into his lab. When she goes to stay in his house (all the better to ‘convince’ him, my dears), she gets far more than she bargained for. Him, undressed, for example (you’ll realize the significance of that when you read it)! Now there’s a visual. More surprises: Simon gets unexpectedly passionate about her curvy body, being in bed with her, and just plain being with her, even though her ex has told her what a dud she is in every way. Simon disagrees, violently! Don’t forget, genius nerds are very thorough/passionate about things they care about. A flummoxed Simon discovers he loves Amanda, something that hasn’t happened to him before. At first he’s completely unnerved and doesn’t know how to show her he cares. Trust me girls, being a genius he’s a quick learner. Whoo, this is so hot you’ll almost feel like a voyeur! Fantastic and intense, with a slightly surprising but extremely satisfactory ending. There are so many good things about this book, you’d be crazy to miss out. |
