At first this book seems like an ‘ordinary’ crime thriller. …Not! Detective Duncan Hatcher and partner DeeDee are incredibly frustrated and angry when arrogant Judge Cato Laird lets a dangerous killer, Savich, off on a technicality. Hard to take, but Dunc and DeeDee will keep trying to nail Savich, no matter what. Then the judge’s gorgeous, ex-waitress wife Elise shoots and kills an alleged burglar in their house. Self-defence, of course, he fired first. Dunc thinks her story stinks, even as his body screams at him to take her into his bed and make love to her until they can’t walk. His attraction to Elise is so inexplicably strong – and wrong – even DeeDee notices it… A moral, honourable man, Dunc’s very troubled by his unwanted sexual feelings to His Judgeship’s wife. In a shock move, Elise arranges a surreptitious private meet with Dunc to tell him an astounding secret, something that will rip the Savich case wide open. Dunc’s tempted to think he’s being played until Elise goes missing, the murders keep coming, and the world tilts as to what’s right and what’s wrong. The final twist in this story will blow you away. Heart-pounding, gritty, surprisingly romantic, and full of thrilling surprises – Sandra Brown has excelled herself yet again in Ricochet. |
