Logan Kendall invests in a remote mountain property where he wants to build a dream get-away cabin. He begs his actress wife Leigh to drive there and join him after her weekend matinee performance. But Leigh drives into treacherous snowy weather on the mountain and has a horrible accident. She wakes up in hospital, injured and frantic, to discover that Logan’s disappeared.
There are a few men to die for in this book: Police Lieutenant Mitchell McCord is very gorgeous, as is the enigmatic, aloof businessman Michael Valente, who allegedly walks a knife edge between legal and illegal activities. Then there’s Joe O’Hara, the bodyguard/chauffeur. Move over Kevin Costner. Judith McNaught sure writes great men. As for Logan – well, you won’t believe how he turns out. Leigh is a terrific leading lady, as is Samantha Littleton, the new detective on the squad. The tense plot twists and turns and backflips, and the surprises just keep coming.
While we adore Judith McNaught’s historical romance, two of her contemporary titles are a must read – as is Someone to Watch Over Me. Rich in emotion and conflict, with heroes to cherish, these books are superb. |
