Georgeanne Howard has lived her whole life with the knowledge that she has a brain dysfunction, aka a learning disability. She refuses to let this get in her way. She will be the most beautiful, the most charming, the most flirtatious Southern Belle ever to leave Texas, and she will do it married to a rich and powerful man, never mind that he’s old enough to be her grandfather. Except that at the last second, Georganne chickens out, and leaves the church at a dead run, jumping into the car of the first man she sees – who happens to be John Kowalsky, captain of the Seattle Chinooks Hockey team. The team that her no-longer-soon-to-be-husband Virgil Duffy owns.
When John discovers exactly whom he’s picked up, he’s understandably cautious – after all, Virgil is his boss. But the woman doesn’t want to get married and hey, it’s not his place to force her. He’ll give her a bed for the night and then take her to the airport for a flight back to Texas. Naturally he isn’t expecting a mutual explosion of passion between them. Still, that doesn’t make any difference to John – it was good, but he’s not a commitment kind of guy. The next day Georgeanne (who had set herself out to charm John into falling in love with her) gets a rude awakening when she finds herself at the airport, watching the tail-lights of John’s car as he drives away.
But she will not surrender! She finds herself a job, discovers the surprise present that John has left her, and spends the next few years making life as wonderful as possible for herself and her beautiful little daughter. And then, quite by accident, John comes back into her life, shocked by the fact that he has a child, but ready and willing to be a father. Only, John knows nothing about little girls, and Lexie isn’t exactly the easiest little girl in the world anyway. Watch the fun begin as John tries to court both his special ladies and faces rejection and blackmail in return! The scene in the pet shop is a riot! |
