He’s baaack! That divine scoundrel Daniel Brennan – son of a hanged highwayman – is pursued by the Lady Helena Laverick (second of the Swanlea Spinsters). Her young sister Julia has eloped, shock, horror, with poor company. Danny is the only man the prim and proper Helena can trust to: 1. find Julia and her suitor, and 2. keep the scandal hushed up. Off they go, chasing the errant duo – but here’s the catch – with Danny insisting they pose as husband and wife to avoid more scandal. Enough said. Thrown into close quarters their restraint goes out the window! Then Danny discovers that Julia’s ‘elopement’ has a more ominous significance, going right back to his infamous smuggler roots. He backs off, determined not to blacken Helena with his illegal past. Too late! Helena is already in love. The scene with leg shackles in the cottage is a stunner, as she turns the tables on Danny and seduces him. If you like romances where the lady falls for the commoner, you’ll love with one. Bad boy Danny was tremendous, right from the opening scene where he flings open his door to the virginal, horrified Helena clad only in his breeches. Romance bliss…
