CHARMER #4 Celeste Bradley

Laced with mystery, Celeste Bradley has created a super-secret spy organization that ‘takes care’ of problems all against a backdrop of clever humour, divine heroes and spunky, smart-aleck heroines – and passionate romance – all the things we love best! If you love Elizabeth Britton, Eloisa James and Elizabeth Boyle, this is the author for you.
Collis Tremayne could make any female swoon; yet no one would guess the hidden desperation that drove him to become the most skilled spy in service to the Crown. All that stands in his way is Rose Lacey, a confounding chit who manages to outsmart him with cunning and courage. She is the only woman he cannot melt with his smile. With every breath, he wishes he never laid eyes on her. And with every flash of her green eyes, he craves to possess her.
Rose Lacey fought hard to meet the challenge of becoming a spy for the infamous Liars Club. And if it weren't for Collis Tremayne, who manages to make her blood boil with his arrogance, and leave her breathless with white hot longing, she'd achieve her dream. Now, they must work together on a secret mission to uncover a dangerous plot-one in which the very safety of England hangs in the balance. Armed with wit and wiles, they must face deadly intrigue, clever enemies, and-if they can manage not to murder one another-the intoxicating lure of unbidden passion. $15.95
Forget about the burning sexual tension between these two – here’s a taste of the competition:
She'd won. Again. Rose went to the weapons rack to hang up her sword. Only this morning she might have fetched Collis's to the rack as well, trying in some small way to lessen the sting of his losing. Her shoulders straight despite her weariness, she turned to face him.
"Are we quite finished?"
He closed his open hand into a fist. "What's the matter, Chamberpot? Left the dusting undone again?" As quickly as the simmering anger within her came to a boil, Rose reached behind her to the rack and sent a throwing blade spinning through the air to thud quivering into the straw-filled mat between Collis's feet. He jumped back. "Bloody hell!"
"What's the matter, Blueblood?" she drawled. "Have you never seen a knife before?" Less than witty, but she was no good at trading cutting remarks. She settled for raising one eyebrow. She knew Collis hated that, which was why she'd practiced it before her mirror until she'd perfected it.
Start at the beginning of this delightful series:
The Pretender Book 1
Ever since they were children, Agatha and James had relied on their favorite scapegoat, Mortimer Applequist, to get them out of trouble. A fictitious character, he could be called up at will to explain away almost anything, including why an unmarried girl was traipsing over London all by herself. When James suddenly goes missing, Agatha follows the only clue she has – a note signed "the Griffin" – and sets herself up as Mrs. Mortimer Applequist in a respectable London townhouse. When a couple of the London matrons start asking pointed questions however, Agatha soon realises she needs a husband in the flesh – and fast.
Enter Simon Raines. A lowly chimney sweep – or so Agatha thinks. She decides he'll be perfect if she cleans him up and he keeps his mouth shut. Like all the best laid plans however, spending time with her husband "Mortimer" becomes a bit more of a permanent arrangement and Agatha soon finds herself giving elocution lessons, dancing lessons, and all sorts of other lessons so she may launch him into society. She also tries desperately not to fall for the handsome rogue who talks to her as an equal and quite literally takes her breath away.
In reality, Simon neither needs nor wants lessons in behaviour and deportment. As the leader of The Liars Club – the most elite group of spies for the crown – he has already learnt how to move in the society where he must gather his secrets. Agatha however, is a mystery he both wants and needs to solve. Wildly attracted to her but believing her to be the mistress of his fellow Liar (and quite possibly a traitor) James, he needs to find out what she knows in order to make sure that no more of his men are injured or worse.
What follows for these two is a delightful twisting and turning of events as Agatha's lies multiply outrageously and passion ignites between her and Simon. Agatha is smart and genuine, daring and funny and every bit a match for Simon. The two characters are very real and Agatha is the sort of heroine that only ever needs rescuing if she hasn’t gotten around to it herself first. The Pretender definitely has it all; humour, drama, passion, danger and characters that will keep you entertained the whole way through. $15.95

It’s tough being a man…
Propping both fists on her hips, Phillipa looked down at her student disapprovingly. "You, me lad, are about to experience the patented Atwater tickle revenge."
Robbie jumped up to run, a giggle already bubbling through his mock fear. Phillipa snapped him up just before he made it to the door. He must not have been trying very hard, for he'd surely learned more speed than that in his years on the streets.
She swung him yelping into the air and brought him down onto the rug before the fire, her fingers raking his bony little sides.
Robbie screeched, his rusty laughter another reminder to Phillipa of his short hard life before she'd met him. Grinning, she almost let him catch a breath before she began anew. "Robbie the Rebel, are you? Robbie the Great Know-it-all, are you? You look more like Robbie Twitter-on-the-rug, if you ask me!" Time to go in for the kill. The volume of Robbie's screeches rose to full riot level. Phillipa heard another sound beyond it, but she didn't identify it as the thumping of running feet in the hall until the door of the schoolroom crashed open.
"What the bloody hell are you doing to him?"
Before Phillipa could turn around, she was lifted by the scruff of her neck and dragged from Robbie. She found herself dangling from James Cunnington's grip, gagging on her cravat - which was apparently auditioning for the role as her brand new Adam's apple.
Then her gaze sharpened on James and her eyes bulged further. It was probably a good thing she couldn't speak, for the man was more than a little naked. In fact, he was naked, but for a towel around his neck and a pair of drawers that clung to his bath-damp skin like paint.
He was revealed to her eyes in all his powerful beauty. His wide brawny chest, his rippling belly, the dark trail of hair that led the eye below the sagging waist of his drawers which did nothing to hide the muscular thighs framing what could only be It.
Great Greek Gods.
She desired him. The realization sent fresh strength into her struggles.
She wanted him, when she couldn't bear to speak her own name in solitude for fear of discovery. When she couldn't allow her body so much as a moment of freedom from its bindings and trappings. She lusted for a man who thought she was a man.
What a fix.
