ROMANCING MR BRIDGERTON BK4 Julia Quinn

How does Julia Quinn manage to do it? She presents us with a strong, gorgeous hero like Colin Bridgerton – a man who indeed appears to be settled in his own skin; an invincible if somewhat careless power in the ton; an indifferent target for the unmarried girls. Then she slowly unpeels his character, layer by layer, so his inner and most tender vulnerabilities are unmasked and exposed to us, the reader. And we love him helplessly for it! Ditto with Julia’s heroines. Penelope Featherington has secretly adored Colin for years. Naturally we all knew, from previous Bridgerton books. And we suffered with her as she suffered (remember that ghastly scene on the steps where Colin forcibly swears to his brothers he will never marry Penelope, and she overhears?).
